Last night, the kids got to play with Papa, Grandpa, and Grandma! Livi and Grandpa had fun painting together. Grandpa got a little carried away... he started the face painting!
think of how scared she must have been going in to that strange room with a bunch of strangers, so I'm just not going to think about it. :) She was in high spirits this morning leading up to it and was very comfortable while waiting with us.
Dr. Kogut came out at 12:30 or so and told us everything went well. They were able to get a lot of fluid out of her abdomen from where the pancreas had disintegrated (for lack of a better word) and also a lot of fluid was drained from the cyst. The gallbladder was an easy removal, the pseudocyst drain was "difficult" and involved "a lot of sewing". All in all very good.
Bill and I also appreciate seeing her this time resting with a tube in her nose looking much healthier than before. The tube will be in for 2-3 days and she'll be in the hospital in HEMOC for 4-5 days.

I don't know if you know me because I imagine neither of us have been at church much over the past few months...but I am in the ward and don't live far from you. I so admire you all and have loved reading through the posts. Your post about visiting your mother's grave really hit home for me. It'll be 10 years for me since my mom passed away and I still recall those feelings with vividness. No doubt she is there comforting Livi when you can't. I had a unique experience when one of my son's was in the hospital a couple of years ago. He was just a couple weeks old, not allowed to eat, and undergoing some tests. At one point he had to be strapped to a board on a table and I wasn't allowed to touch him. I ached to hold him as he lay there for an hour. But he had such a look of peace. I knew without a doubt that the loved ones who had passed on for whom he had been named were there in the room keeping him company, comforting him, entertaining him, and even holding him.
Best of luck to Livi. I just had my gall bladder removed in November. I know it's nothing the same but you can tell her we can be friends and compare scars. Let us know if you need anything!

Rachel, I am so glad that the surgury went so well! I thought about her a lot yesterday. I am sure she is still pretty sore, but I hope that she can find some joy playing the Nintendo DS when she feels up to it. I was so happy to get online last night and see that everything went well. I was thinking about you guys all day. I hope Livi has a speedy recovery so she can enjoy her birthday to the fullest!
I'm so glad to hear that everything went well! She looks great! We're praying her recovery will be quick so she can go home. I love the pictures, especially the one of her and her grandpa! :-)
